Yvonne brings more than 12 years of community organizing and leadership training experience to Sixth Sun Consulting. She firmly believes that the "first revolution is internal" and has a passion for helping people reach their fullest potential. To begin the real work individuals and organizations must first examine themselves and make changes before looking outward.  Sixth Sun Consulting also offers training in anti-oppression work, Enneagram and transformative coaching.
Yvonne believes that the oppression that people experience trickles down from larger systems and into our communities, keeping people deadlocked in society.

Yvonne was drawn to community organizing after being frustrated as a social worker in the corrections and mental health system and as a young activist in the Chicano/Native and Latino Community. Before founding Sixth Sun Consulting, Yvonne worked as a lead organizer at Metro Organizations for People (MOP). As a community organizer Yvonne has worked on numerous education, housing and immigration campaigns.

In the fall Yvonne taught at the University of Denver where she graduated with her master's degree in Social Work in 2000. She will also spend time focusing on building effective allies in the immigrant rights movement with the American Friends Service Committee where she serves as a board member.
